Rhizome creeping, subterete, diameter 6–8 mm, densely covered with scales. Leaves: solitary, well spaced, to ca. 80 cm; cataphylls undescribed; petiole (15-) 25–50 cm; lamina elliptic, 17.5–30 cm long x 5.5–8.5 cm wide, apex long acuminate. Peduncle erect, 0.9 - 3.5 cm long with 3 - 5 bracts, white, speckled with purple; flowers solitary. Perianth campanulate; tube white sometimes speckled with purple inside, purple outside, 8–11 mm long x 6–7 mm diameter; lobes 6, strongly reflexed, purple, ovate, 4–5 mm long x 3–4 mm wide, smooth. Stamens 6, inserted towards top of perianth tube, extending to slightly below stigma level, subsessile; anthers oblong, 4.5–5.5 mm. Pistil club-shaped; style purple, thick, columnar-claviform, 7–9 mm long, almost exceeding tube, grooved longitudinally, scarcely enlarged at the top into a slightly concave stigma with revolute margin, stigmatic surface white, 3-lobed and with 3 radial lines; ovary inconspicuous.
